  • General Duties
    FCC Commissioner Geoffrey Starks seeks part-time and full-time student voluntary interns for the Washington, DC office beginning in January 2021. Interns will work on the full range of communications and technology topics handled by the Commission to advance the Commissioner's policy goals of empowering consumers, increasing all communities' access to affordable broadband and holding wrongdoers accountable. Relevant issues may include:
    • Universal service and bringing affordable broadband to all Americans
    • Network Security and Privacy
    • Telehealth
    • Consumer Protection
    • Public Safety
    • Spectrum
    • Competition
    • Media
    Interns will assist the Commissioner and advisors with legal research, writing, and analysis. Interns may also participate in meetings with various stakeholder groups and help with external outreach such as drafting speeches and press statements. NOTE: the FCC’s building is currently closed. While we hope that the building will be open this Fall, interns will be asked to work from home if our office space is not accessible.
  • Selection Criteria
    Candidates should be US citizens who are current law students and graduate students with strong academic credentials, an interest in communications law (though experience is not required) and a commitment to public service. Full-time availability is preferred but not required.
